Prayer For The Cold, Freezing, Homeless And Hungry In Milwaukee, Wisconsin

Dear Heavenly Father,

We come before you today with heavy hearts, as we think of the cold, freezing, homeless, and hungry in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Lord, we know that you have a heart for the afflicted and downtrodden, and we beseech you to extend your loving mercy upon them.

Your word tells us in Deuteronomy 15:11, “There will always be poor people in the land. Therefore I command you to be openhanded toward your fellow Israelites who are poor and needy in your land.” Lord, we pray for open hands and compassionate hearts in our community to provide for the needs of those who are suffering.

In Isaiah 58:7, you teach us, “Is it not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter— when you see the naked, to clothe them?” Lord, we ask that you inspire individuals and organizations to generously provide warm shelter, food, and clothing to those in need. May the homeless find warmth and safety, and may the hungry be filled with nourishing meals.

Psalm 82:3 reminds us of our responsibility to “Defend the weak and the fatherless; uphold the cause of the poor and the oppressed.” Lord, we pray that you would raise up advocates and resources to address the underlying issues causing homelessness and poverty. May policies be enacted, and systems be put in place that seek to uplift and empower those who are struggling.

Proverbs 28:27 tells us, “Those who give to the poor will lack nothing, but those who close their eyes to them receive many curses.” Father, we pray for conviction in the hearts of those who have much, to extend a helping hand to those who have little. May generosity abound, as we strive to make a difference in the lives of the most vulnerable.

Finally, we ask for your comfort and protection over the cold and freezing individuals enduring the harsh conditions of winter. Psalm 46:1 assures us, “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.” Lord, provide them with warmth, shelter, and the assurance of your presence. Surround them with compassionate souls who will advocate for their well-being.

We offer up this prayer in faith, believing that you are a God of compassion and justice. May your love flow through us to those who are cold, freezing, homeless, and hungry in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

.

In the name of Jesus, we pray.

Amen.
